I know I am late posting about the legendary Bill Withers passing, but I wanted to make sure I acknowledged him and also post three songs that were special to me at different periods in my life. Monday, March 30, 2020, the world lost a great American singer-songwriter and musician, William Harrison Withers Jr.
When you think of music that not only makes you reach deep into your soul but also makes you want to just get up and dance, you must think of Bill Withers. Music was his passion and when he set out to accomplish something, he didn’t give up until it was completed. Bill Withers will also be remembered as a humanitarian who stood up for the rights of people who were facing a crisis. Rest in Peace, Mr. Withers, and thank you for the music!
Song Lyrics –
Grandma’s hands
Played a tambourine so well
Grandma’s hands
Used to issue out a warning
She’d say, “Billy don’t you run so fast
Might fall on a piece of glass
“Might be snakes there in that grass”
Grandma’s hands
Grandma’s hands
Soothed a local unwed mother
Grandma’s hands
Used to ache sometimes and swell
Grandma’s hands
Used to lift her face and tell her,
She’d say “Baby, Grandma understands
That you really love that man
Put yourself in Jesus hands”
Grandma’s hands
Grandma’s hands
Used to hand me piece of candy
Grandma’s hands
Picked me up each time I fell
Grandma’s hands
Boy, they really came in handy
She’d say, “Matty don’ you whip that boy
What you want to spank him for?
He didn’t drop no apple core”
But I don’t have Grandma anymore
If I get to heaven I’ll look for
Grandma’s hands

Song Lyrics –
When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind
Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day
lovely day, lovely day, lovely day
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day

Song Lyrics –
My friends feel it’s their appointed duty
They keep trying to tell me all you want to do is use me
But my answer yeah to all that use me stuff
Is I want to spread the news that if it feels this good getting used
Oh you just keep on using me until you use me up
Until you use me up
My brother sit me right down and he talked to me
He told me that I ought not to let you just walk on me
And I’m sure he meant well yeah but when our talk was through
I said brother if you only knew you’d wish that you were in my shoes
You just keep on using me until you use me up
Until you use me up
Oh sometimes yeah it’s true you really do abuse me
You get in a crowd of high-class people and then you act real rude to me
But oh baby baby baby baby when you love me I can’t get enough
I and I want to spread the news that if it feels this good getting used
Oh you just keep on using me until you use me up
Until you use me up
Talking about you using me but it all depends on what you do
It ain’t too bad the way you’re using me
‘Cause I sure am using you to do the things you do
Ah ha to do the things you do
I grew up with Lean On Me. He was such a humble guy and didn’t make it til later…just a great guy. I hated to see this…

Lean On Me is a beautiful song that right now with everything going on we all could gather strength from. He was a great guy…I hated to read of his passing.

I did also…it was like someone I knew… are you and your family doing alright?

So far my family is doing well, thank the Lord. The company that I work for didn’t waste any time getting everyone up and working from home. I had already been working from home for a couple of months.
How are you and your family?

We are fine…yes I’m working from home as well. I could anyway really but they don’t like it normally…but now they don’t have a choice.

I am happy that you and your family are well. Many of these companies would prefer their employees to work in the office, but they have been given a huge reality check with this virus. I actually like working from home. I hope you have a great day!
